Venture School

We often hear that Venture School is a student’s favorite part of Venture Upward!

Venture School is a weekly in-person extracurricular co-op program where students engage with peers and instructors in a classroom setting and participate in local monthly educational adVENTURE days. Venture School classes can include but are not limited to locally-significant traditions, messy science experiments, art, cooking, music, Spanish, money management, geography, engagement with community workers, and more. Parents may drop their students off or stay and become involved.

Monthly adVENTURE Days:
Venture School in Wyoming offers adVENTURE DAYS, a unique monthly field trip opportunity for students and parents to participate together. These unique experiences are integrated into the Venture School schedule to provide families with a chance to share meaningful experiences and build a strong sense of community.

Subscription Box Alternative:
We understand that Venture School may not be the right fit for all families. As an alternative to Venture School, students may choose to receive two subscription boxes per month. There are over a dozen boxes to choose from that captivate a range of unique interests including: art, music, sampling foods from around the world, cooking, STEM, world history, US history, science, geography, coding, and more.

Curriculum Choices

Each K-12 student meets state standards by working in an online curriculum resource of their choosing in the four core subjects of language arts, math, science, and social studies. Weekly pacing is required in each of these four core subjects.

In addition, students in grades K-3 reading below a 4th grade level participate in a fun early literacy program of their choosing.

We offer a variety of curriculum resource options that allow you to customize the educational path for your student. Our Wyoming-licensed teachers are excited to learn more about your student’s needs and to help guide you in the selection of courses.

Venture Reward

Equity in education is something Venture Upward is committed to, which is why the Venture Reward was implemented. We strive to ensure that every student is equipped with the tools needed to be successful with the curriculum we provide through local district programs. Every student that enrolls in Venture Upward in Wyoming will receive Venture Reward funding of $1,200 each school year to access educational items. Many families have benefited from using their Venture Reward for printers, internet access, technology, books, education games, additional curriculum, and so much more! Please note that the Venture Reward funds cannot be used to purchase religious-based curriculum. All items are property of the district and must be returned if a student withdraws before the end of the school year.

If you have any questions about what materials might be eligible for purchase with Venture Reward funds, please contact your teacher. If you do not yet have a teacher, you can reach us at contact@ventureupward.org.

Program Requirements

  • Grades K-3: Weekly progress in Venture’s fun and engaging Reading Initiative.
  • All Students: Weekly progress as outlined in the pacing guide for each core course.
  • Weekly Attendance: Students must make weekly progress in their course work or they may be marked absent.
  • Standardized Testing: WY-TOPP test is required annually for students outside of the Fremont District #25 at a location near them. Students residing within the district will test at a local FCSD25 school three times per year.

Community Events

Establishing a strong sense of community is vital for students to thrive academically and personally. As part of our commitment to fostering a sense of community, Venture Upward offers a range of engaging and meaningful events throughout the year. Please note that community events are open to all Wyoming families, regardless of enrollment status; fees apply. Our program includes but is not limited to the following events:

  • Annual: Homeschool conference

  • Quarterly: Community service opportunities, professional development, and virtual book clubs for parents
  • Monthly: Park days, nature clubs, and virtual book clubs for kids
  • Other: National pen pal program, professional development for parents, a supportive and encouraging facebook community, and more!

We believe that a strong community provides a solid foundation for academic success, and we are dedicated to providing opportunities for students to connect with their peers and engage in meaningful experiences.

Internet Safety

We offer an optional technology training program for students to learn more about internet safety. The goal of this training is to mitigate the risks that come along with internet access such as cyberbullying, cyberstalking, pornography, identity theft, virus/malware susceptibility, and reputation damage. This technology training program is available, free of charge, to all Venture Students. Participation is optional.
