Job Description For: Venture School Site Manager
Venture Upward empowers families to cultivate a love of learning through high-quality curriculum, mentorship, and community support. Our mission is to make home education accessible, clear, and engaging for every family we serve.

Venture School Site Managers report to their Venture School Regional Manager. They are responsible for creating, organizing, and managing their local Venture School focusing on a safe, respectful, uplifting environment where the love of learning can take root and thrive.

Venture School Overview:

  • Each Venture School Location is overseen by a site manager.
  • Venture School meets once a week for about 4.5 hours.
  • A typical day includes four classes and a lunch period. Classes are around 45 min – 1hr.
  • School size ranges from 30-100 students, Class sizes average 15-20 students per class.
  • Each class will have one instructor
  • Classes are enriching in nature. They are not intended to replace core home instruction and typically, do not include homework or assessments.
  • Most Venture School locations replace 1-2 days a quarter with an adVENTURE Day

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Following the guidelines and procedures set forth by Venture Upward
  • Creating and Organizing the Venture School
  • Finding and securing a location
  • Gathering family survey data to guide decisions on day of the week, classes, etc.
  • Recruiting, Interviewing, and recommending potential instructors and assistants
  • Creating a morning routine, daily schedule of classes, and yearly calendar
  • Reviewing all Instructor class syllabi to ensure they align with Venture School’s mission and purpose
  • Reviewing and approving instructor supply orders
  • Keeping track of Venture School supplies
  • Organizing an Open House for families before school begins
  • Ensuring families have signed the Policies and Expectations and Student Code of Conduct before attending Venture School
  • Exercising open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other Venture Upward staff
  • Facilitating regular staff meetings and helping staff understand and follow Venture School policies
  • Keeping records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events
  • Keeping the Budget spreadsheet up to date and within given limits.
  • Ensuring Venture funds are spent responsibly
  • Assisting Instructors and Assistants in finding substitutes when needed
  • Moderating the local Venture School Facebook group
  • Writing Weekly Wrap-ups to families with what’s been going on at VS and upcoming events
  • Approving employee timesheets and helping employees stay within their allotted hours.
  • Organizing Quarterly adVENTURE Days and one service opportunity each semester
  • Overseeing community events and quarterly events such science fair, geography fair, entrepreneur fair
  • Venture School safety procedures as outlined in the handbook including the lanyard system
  • Facilitate turning in workbook pages brought to Venture School (where applicable)
  • Helping create and maintain a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for students and staff

Position Details & Compensation:
Department: Venture School
Reports To: Venture School Regional Manager
Employment Type: Part-time position
Hours: 10 hours per week/ hours could increase at the beginning of the school year and new semester reaching up to 20 hours per week.
Compensation: $20 per hour

Licenses/Degrees: High School Diploma – a degree or certification to qualify for this position
