Job Description For: Idaho K-6 Teacher of Record

As a teacher/mentor at Venture Upward, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality educational experience and ensuring students’ academic success. You will manage various daily, weekly, and long-term responsibilities, from tracking time and supporting new student onboarding to facilitating academic and enrichment classes. You will maintain strong communication with families, support students’ academic progress, and contribute to key administrative processes throughout the year.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily/Weekly Duties:

  • Time Tracking: Accurately track work hours using PayClock.
  • New Student Onboarding: Assist with registration during enrollment periods and follow district procedures and following SOP instructions.
  • Weekly Newsletters & Check-ins: Engage families with newsletters and personalized check-ins via text, email, or phone, ensuring all contacts are recorded in the student journal and/or tracking tools.
  • Office Hours & Tutoring: Hold weekly office hours and offer tutoring as needed, documenting student progress and attendance. This can vary by state.
  • Grading & Feedback: Grade student submissions and update the grade book promptly, ensuring communication with students and families on academic progress.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track student performance, provide regular updates, and ensure timely interventions for students who are falling behind.
  • Meetings & Collaboration: Attend weekly team meetings, SST/IEP/504 meetings, and other necessary training or school-related meetings.

Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Duties:

  • SST and Academic Support: Work closely with the SST team to monitor student progress and ensure necessary interventions and accommodations are in place.
  • Testing & Academic Assessments: Administer Benchmark testing, proctor exams, and manage state assessments, ensuring reports are shared with families and stored appropriately.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records for student attendance, progress, and any withdrawals. Update student files as necessary, following district procedures.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences: Conduct conferences each semester to provide detailed feedback on student progress and address any curriculum adjustments.
  • Field Trips & Events: Participate in field trips and events to foster a strong community connection with families.
  • Incentive Programs: Manage incentive programs, sending rewards and certificates to eligible students.
  • End-of-Year Tasks: Assist with graduation, 8th-grade certificates, re-enrollment surveys, and curriculum changes for the upcoming school year.

Position Details & Compensation:
Department: Operations
Reports To: Regional Program Director
Employment Type: Part-time position
Hours: 10-15 hours per week; must be available for at least 8 of those hours between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Hours may vary based on program needs and scheduling requirements.
Compensation: Starting range of $20/hr

Licenses/Degrees: Preference will be given to Idaho-licensed teachers

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent executive leadership professionally.
  • Ability to engage families and support students in various learning environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust-based relationships across teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with SST/IEP/504 processes and educational assessments is preferred.
  • Experience working in a flexible, remote learning environment is a plus.
  • This role is crucial to ensuring that students meet academic milestones while maintaining the high standards of the Venture Upward program.
  • Experience supporting executive workflows, including scheduling systems, spreadsheets, data organization, and digital productivity tools.
  • Comfort leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, organization, and executive support processes.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close alignment with executive priorities and leadership expectations.

Technical / Equipment:

  • Reliable computer and high-speed internet access
  • Proficient with Google Docs, Sheets, and Google Meet
