Meet the Arbon Family
Located in the mountains of northern Arizona, the Arbons, with their eight children, are following their dream. They live on a “fixer-upper” farm where they have a big garden, chickens, goats, and two beautiful dogs–maybe someday a cow! Lindsay Arbon said the kids are up early doing their farm chores before school starts. “They are learning so much! This adventure has really brought our family closer together.”
When they first started their Venture Upward journey, Lindsay, who is a licensed teacher, was leary at first about how much help and support her children’s mentors and TORs would actually be. She thought she had it all figured out. Quickly being proven wrong, Lindsay was blown away at how much care and support the teachers had for her family and how much she still could learn from other perspectives.
After seeing the wealth of support and flexibility that Venture brought to her family, Lindsay has now become a teacher for other Venture students. She expressed, “When you help a child learn and understand a concept and see those sparks go off in their eyes, it’s priceless.” She notes that all students are amazing, and she has loved finding the different ways that children learn their best.
“Working with Venture as a teacher and home-educating has been amazing because we fit it around our lifestyle. It gives us countless opportunities to learn to work together and get things accomplished.” Whether it is working in concert in the garden, taking care of their farm animals and pets, or fixing up their home, Venture Upward has given the Arbon family the flexibility to do what they love.
“Venture Upward provides so many opportunities to help families aid their students identify what they love to learn–in such personal and individual ways. These kiddos can then go on and continue to dive deeper into those subjects and interests.”
